Pakistan’s Car Market in July 2025: The Highs, the Lows, and What’s Next

The latest numbers for Pakistan’s auto industry are in, and they tell an interesting story. July 2025 was a month of mixed emotions for carmakers, bike sellers, and even truck manufacturers. Let’s break it down in simple terms.

More cars were sold compared to last year

In July 2025, car sales reached 11,034 units, which is 28% more than July 2024. This is a big improvement and shows that people are feeling a bit more confident about buying cars.

  • Lower interest rates mean car loans are cheaper.
  • Lower inflation means prices are not rising as fast.
  • People are generally more positive about the economy.

But a big drop compared to June 2025

If we compare July to the previous month (June), sales fell by 49%. This doesn’t sound good, but it’s mainly because June had unusually high sales. Many people bought cars early because they were worried about possible tax changes in the budget.

Who sold the most cars?

  • Indus Motor Company (Toyota) INDU: Sales doubled compared to last year but dropped a little from June. Big demand for Fortuner, Corolla, and Yaris.
  • Hyundai Nishat: Sales were up more than double from last year, thanks to popular models like Tucson and Elantra.
  • Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW): Sales rose 31% from last year, helped by the new HAVAL facelift and the upcoming H6 plug-in hybrid.
  • Honda Atlas (HCAR): Sales jumped 61% from last year, but dipped slightly from last month.
  • Suzuki (PSMC): Not a good month, sales fell 18% from last year and 72% from June.

Motorbikes and rickshaws

Sales of 2- and 3-wheelers (motorbikes and rickshaws) went up 44% from last year, but dropped 12% compared to June. Electric bikes and rickshaws have now been included in the official data for the first time.

Tractors

Tractor sales fell by 18% compared to last year. The main reason is that farmers are struggling with weaker farm incomes.

Trucks and buses

Sales here were 22% higher than last year but 49% lower than June, again because June had unusually high sales.

What’s the outlook?

Experts expect auto sales to keep growing in the coming year (FY26), thanks to:

  • Lower borrowing costs
  • Exciting new models, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars

In short, July 2025 was better than last year but slower than the previous month. The overall trend is positive, and with new cars and lower interest rates, the roads in Pakistan could see many more new wheels in the months ahead.
