The approval follows the Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) signed between PTCL and Telenor Pakistan BV (TPBV) on December 14, 2023, under which PTCL agreed to acquire the entire issued share capital of both entities. According to PTCL, the CCP clearance was granted after a thorough review under the Competition Act, 2010 and the Merger Control Regulations, 2016.
While the CCP’s approval marks a significant milestone, the deal still awaits completion of other regulatory and corporate formalities, including the signing of closing agreements. Once finalized, the acquisition is expected to further strengthen PTCL’s market presence and consolidate its position in Pakistan’s telecom sector.
PTCL shares were last trading today at Rs. 29.50
